Harvester Christian Academy (HCA) is a private Christian School
located in Douglasville, Georgia, approximately thirty minutes
west of Atlanta. Our school was founded in 1987 by a group of
parents seeking to provide a Christ centered education for their
children, which would augment what was being modeled and taught
in the home and at church. Students from over 70 different churches
are enrolled in grades K-4 through 12. Enrollment averages between
350 and 420, making Harvester one of the largest private schools
in the west Georgia area. HCA is affiliated with the Presbyterian
Church of America (PCA) and is an accredited member of the Association
of Christian Schools International, The National Institute for
Learning Disabilities and the International Dyslexia Association.
Faculty/Staff:
HCA employs twelve elementary teachers with three full time aides and fourteen
middle and high school teachers, along with three physical education
teachers,
an Athletic Director, full-time art teacher, and a full-time computer teacher. This enables HCA to
offer a 15/l student/teacher ratio. Our Library houses over six thousand
volumes
Academics and Student Services:
Christ is the center of all subjects taught at HCA. Accordingly, we teach
a biblical world and life view. Students have daily Bible classes and
Chapel weekly. All classes participate in Bible memorization. Other
academic programs include, but are not
|
| limited to Junior and Senior Beta Club, Student Council,
Science Fair, Math Fair, Governor’s Honors Program and The
Duke University TIP Program. The High School offers honors courses
and advanced placement courses, career placement testing, and post-secondary
guidance counseling. Also, high school students can receive college
credit through dual enrollment with area colleges. Our graduating
seniors are eligible for the H.O.P.E. scholarship and are presently
attending universities in Georgia as well as throughout the Southeast.
HCA offers supervised after-school care until 6 pm each day,
and a hot lunch program.
SAT and Other Standardized Testing
Grades K-5 through 11th take the Stanford Achievement Test each year.
HCA offers our students college SAT preparation and is an established
SAT administration facility. Harvester students consistently perform
above the national and state averages on standardized tests and college
entrance exams.

Also, HCA holds the 2003 Girls’ Softball Championship. In addition
to basketball, HCA offers a wide variety of other sports activities,
including football, baseball, softball, volleyball, track, and cheerleading.
We also offer intramural

basketball and soccer for boys and girls. HCA students
take art and music classes and can also participate in yearbook,
student council and other clubs. Learning is not limited to the classroom.
Field trips are regularly scheduled locally, regionally, and abroad
in areas of science, arts, history and language. HCA is dedicated
to programs of excellence. Each year HCA upgrades and expands curriculum
and facilities.
Outreach Ministry
Our students, from kindergarten through high school, have opportunities
to involve themselves in positive ways in the community and world around
them. For example, many high school students have participated in mission
trips to Honduras. Their involvement with programs and projects is
aimed at promoting social, political, economic, educational and spiritual
improvement in the lives of others. We participate in the shoebox blessing
program sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse annually, usually collecting
over 300 shoeboxes school wide.
Our Future
Harvester Christian Academy exists as a covenant community school to
assist parents in carrying out the mandate from God found in Proverbs
22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he
is old he will not turn from it.” Our work is aimed at training
our students to think critically and biblically so they can lead with
their minds. We also aim to train their hearts to be sensitive to serving
God by serving others. Our vision extends beyond ourselves to not only
this present generation of students, but to their children and to their
children’s children. Our expectant hope is that not until eternity
will we see the true extent of the impact of our ministry for God in
this part of His kingdom work. You are invited to join with us in a
labor greater than any other as we invest our lives into the children
God has given us.
