The Talons, an integral part of the Hawk, are a collaborative group of parents working in conjunction with the HCA board, administration, and teachers to support and promote each other’s success.
The Talons’ mission is, along with parents, teachers/faculty/staff, board members and students, to bind the individual parts of the Hawk family into one working unit with common goals for the betterment of Harvester Christian Academy through Christian fellowship.
Studies show that parent involvement is a predictor of success in children and in the school.
The Talons historically have supported the teacher’s expenses for continuing education. The most recent conference allowed teachers from all over the Southeast to attend workshops equipping them with new skills and ideas for the classroom.
The Talons also have provided breakfast to the students and teachers on the first day of school, plan and execute Teacher Appreciation Week, assist with the planning and funding of Grandparent’s Day, and help raise funds for other teacher-related needs. The Talons raised money to fund the addition of the basketball goals to the newly installed outdoor basketball and hopscotch/4 score court.
