Harvester Christian Academy seeks to “train minds to lead and hearts to serve.” More than just words, HCA brings the Proverb to life by visible actions within our community, state, region, and world through compassionate service to others.
Mission trips, service and volunteer projects, and assistance in funding are some examples of Harvester service to others.
Harvester campus service clubs such as the Key Club and Beta Club are two organizations actively involving students within the community. Projects include the Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox drive, Soles for Souls, canned food drives for the hungry, baking cookies for the children of the Ronald McDonald House, Meals and Wheels, serving at the Pregnancy Resource Banquet and the Douglasville Hydrangea Festival, Relay for Life, and working with the Special Olympics.
Summer provides many opportunities for service. Students may be found as volunteers for hospitals and other non-profit service organizations in the surrounding areas. Summer also allows for national and world mission trips to place Harvester board members, alumni, faculty, and students across the globe.
Harvester Donates to Special Olympics
The Harvester Hawks have been blessed with athletic success over the last decades. Today, the Hawks share their success by donating the hardware representing championship wins to the Special Olympics. The trophies, spanning across all sporting events, will be utilized by the Special Olympics in their upcoming games.
Greg Forlaw, Athletic Director at Harvester, says, “We are pleased to be able to support the Special Olympics in this way. Their champion athletes mirror the hard work and effort of our athletes. It is our desire that they are recognized equally for their accomplishments.”
